Cruise-Express · Zeebrugge cruise terminal
A return bus between the Zeebrugge cruise terminal and the coach park on the edge of old Bruges, with departures every half hour in the morning. Pick it when you want a day in Bruges on your own terms, with no guide and no fixed programme.

This is transport, nothing else, and that is the point. From the ship you take the free port shuttle to the port gate (the quay is a restricted area, so you cannot walk out), then walk the few metres to the Cruise-Express departure point at Rederskaai 47. Buses leave every 30 minutes between 8:30 a.m. and noon and take about 20 minutes, traffic allowing. Reviewers say the staff at the pick-up point are easy to find and that times were moved when a ship arrived late. Coming back, the buses run every half hour in the afternoon on a timetable tied to your ship's sailing time. The staff tell you the last one; stick to it.
Where you land matters. Coaches are not allowed into the old centre, so the shuttle uses the official drop-off zone at Bargeplein on the Bargeweg, south of the centre, next to the Minnewater. There are public toilets right there. From the Minnewater you walk in past the Beguinage, and the Stael jetty at Katelijnestraat 4 is one of the first boat jetties on the way; the Markt is further on. One reviewer called it a long walk, so plan for it if anyone in your party walks slowly. Take the way in along the water and the walk is half the sightseeing.
The canal boat is not part of the shuttle. The canal boat is not part of this price. You buy it yourself at any of the five jetties, no booking needed: €15 for adults, €9 for children aged 4 to 11, free under 4, in 2026, paid by Payconiq or cash. The ride lasts about 30 minutes and you get off where you got on. On a cruise day in season that half hour fits easily between the Markt and lunch, but queues build up when several ships are in, so go early. From 15 March to October the boats run every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., last trip half an hour before closing. From November to 14 March at least one jetty sails every day by rotation and the others choose for themselves, so in winter look for the jetty that is open rather than a particular one. The boats and jetties have steps down to the water and no lift. For a plan that fits a port day, one day in Bruges has the route.
